Non-Aristocratic Social Differentiation in the Early Middle Ages: comparative perspectives (NASD)

The aim of NASD is to study the dynamics of social differentiation among the non-aristocratic free population in the early Middle Ages in Western Europe, and to do so in terms of status. To this end, it analyses the material and non-material resources and well as the strategies that actors could use to increase and maintain their status and the way in which this was perceived and accepted or contested by other actors in their social milieu.
