Biografía

Paloma Caravantes González is a César Nombela researcher at the IPP-CSIC.

She holds a PhD in Women’s and Gender Studies from Rutgers University (New Jersey, USA). She has been a Marie Skłodowska-Curie postdoctoral researcher with the project “Local Democratic Governance towards Equality: Implementation of Gender+ Equality Policies in times of Anti-Gender and Democratic Backsliding” (LODGE, Ref. 101067130) in the Department of Political Science and Administration at the Complutense University of Madrid (Spain), an institution she joined in 2022 with a Juan de la Cierva-Formación grant (FJC2020-042827-I).

She is currently a member of the research team for the Horizon Europe project “Co-Creating Inclusive Intersectional Democratic Spaces Across Europe” (CCINDLE; Ref: 101061256).

Previously, she took part in the projects “The Gender Division in the Agenda of the Parliament of Catalonia” (DEMOC; Ref. EXI077 /21/000001) and “Towards the Implementation of the ‘Human Rights, Gender, and Intersectionality’ Approach in Madrid’s Municipal Policies” (IMPLEMAD; Ref. 2018-548-042), funded by the Government of Catalonia and the Madrid City Council, respectively.

She has also worked as a national expert for the H2020 projects “Certification-Award Systems to Promote Gender Equality Research” (CASPER Ref. 872113) and “UniSAFE: Ending Gender-Based Violence” (Ref. 101006261). From 2021 to 2025, she was a member of the Steering Committee of the ECPR Standing Group on Gender and Politics.

Her work has been published in journals such as the European Journal of Political Research, Policy & Politics, Politics & Gender, International Political Science Review, and South European Society and Politics, as well as in a monograph on the implementation of intersectionality in public policies by the Madrid City Council.

Her research interests revolve around feminist democratization processes at the local level, the implementation of intersectional and gender equity approaches in public policy, as well as the analysis of the anti-gender movement and feminist institutional and parliamentary responses.
