Latindex

Latindex is the result of cooperation between a network of institutions that work together to collect and disseminate information on scientific serial publications produced in Ibero-America.

The overall mission of this information system is to disseminate, make accessible, and improve the quality of academic journals published mainly in Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain and Portugal.

Latindex has two information products: 1. DIRECTORY, which provides bibliographic and contact details for all registered journals, and 2. CATALOG 2.0, which includes journals that meet the highest quality standards according to the Latindex methodology. These include scientific research, technical-professional, and scientific and cultural dissemination journals.

Potential users of Latindex are all those who use, exchange, and generate scientific information published in the region, such as researchers, teachers, students, publishers, librarians and information specialists.

Latindex also serves the international community (organizations and/or individuals) interested in content, topics, and actions related to science and Ibero-American scientific information.

The CCHS Information Processing Unit is the collection center for this information system in Spain. The Unit constantly updates the data on Spanish journals in the directory and the v2.0 Catalog, and provides ongoing advice to journal editors. It also carries out training activities aimed at publishers, including free online courses offered by Latindex, for which it develops content and acts as a facilitator. The Unit actively participates in two permanent Latindex committees that seek to improve and update the system: the committee responsible for reviewing the methodology of the v2.0 catalog, and the group created to identify and deal with journals engaging in fraudulent practices.

The services offered as the Latindex Collection Center in Spain, which consist of maintaining data in the system and advising scientific journal publishers, are provided free of charge.
